A female accountant with one of the major telecommunication companies in Lagos has allegedly committed suicide in the Osapa London area of Lekki.
The 47-year-old accountant, Afolake Abiola, allegedly committed suicide by drinking ‘Sniper’, a popular pesticide, last Friday 27th May, 2022 at her residence: 1, Abayomi Kukomi close, Osapa London, Lekki.
According to a police source, Afolake might have committed suicide out of depression since she was single and childless.
The police source claimed that she had no other reason, because she had a lucrative job.
One of her neighbours said, “she has been battling depression for a while on account of no husband and no child.”
A statement from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, reads: “When the policemen got to the scene, her family members were there and they requested that the corpse be released to them to enable them to bury her according to Islamic rites. Based on compassionate grounds, her body was released to her family for burial.”
