The Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa has ruled that former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, is eligible to contest the 2023 presidential election.
The judgment was delivered by Justice Isa Hamma Dashen on Friday.
He held that Jonathan’s right to contest for the office of president again cannot be stopped by any retroactive law.
There has been controversy over the eligibility of the former president to contest in subsequent presidential elections after he was voted out of office in 2015, having spent a term in office following the demise of the then president, Musa Yar'Adua.
Many Nigerians who are displeased with the APC leadership have expressed the desire to see Jonathan return to office.
